NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION
Gia's Cottage is in a sweet, little neighborhood within a semi cul-de-sac. Car traffic is very seldom. What's most common are the many birds and wild rabbits that frolic around the open yard next door.
Interesting fact: Gia's Cottage is located in an area with protected and rare species. So keep an eye out for spotted owls,lodgepole chipmunks, southern rubber boa (don't worry, it's non-venomous), and the grey-leaved violet plant.
GETTING AROUND
Gia's Cottage is closest to the 38 Freeway (Scenic Route) which is less jagged than the 18, in my opinion.
The Cottage is about 6mi from the Village and the Lake, 2.5mi from BB Snow Play, 5.1mi from Snow Summit Ski Resort. You can take a leisurely 10 minutes walk to the closest convenience store, and the bus stop is just a short 7 minutes walk, right on Big Bear Blvd.
Big Bear City shops, stores, cafes and eateries about a little over a mile away, as well as city parks and museum.
HOUSE RULES
Gia's Cottage is suitable for our younger guests, but please keep an eye on your toddlers as they climb the stairs and access the 2nd floor balcony and deck. We also suggest bringing a couple of those electric socket safety thingies. Unfortunately, Gia's Cottage is not baby-ready :(
Gia, our family, and I do frequent the Cottage. Because of this, we have to establish some additional house rules:

Due to allergies, we can't have pets in the cottage, not even ESAs (emotional support animals)

Smoking is not allowed in the property - please know that Big Bear City is a high fire risk area :( so no barbecue-ing either.

Quiet hours from 10pm - when the sun sets, Big Bear gets dark -- super dark! And folks tend to turn in, so please be respectful to our neighbors. We like them, and you meet any of them, you'll love them too.

No shoes in the cottage - bring your house slippers (shoe booties may be available near the front door).

During the Winter months, please Winterize (instructions will be printed and provided in the house).

OUR INTERACTIONS WITH YOU
I may not be available in person when you check in, but I'm always just a phone call or text away in case you have any questions. I will provide you with the code to enter the Front Door (or lockbox combination) and the location of the keys once you've confirmed your booking.
Check in is at 3:00pm.
I'll also let you know check-out procedures.
In general, put all used towels on the shower floor, and leave the beds unmade.
It's a bit different checking out during the wintery, snowy, months.
We need to Winterize and set the temperature at 55 degrees!
Check out is at 11:00am.
